The Art of Aging: A Doctor’s Prescription for Well-Being

A friend recommended the book, but I started to read it and it was not interesting enough….never got past page 5….dry, without graphics. Perhaps to cerebral.

Some of this is useful.. I perhaps was negatively prejudiced by his choice of surgeon Debakey as someone to hold up as a positive example. I think it would be hard to be like him in many ways. I needed a bit more about people who were not facing terrible things in their lives.

Thanks Amazon for another taste of Sherwin Nuland’s art. He is so gentle and kind . What ever he narrates is a delight. It is good to find a volume that does not only think of the young but admits that those young in heart have a lot to share.

The verbage and vocabulary in this book is a bit, “highbrow” and not easy to read some words that I must look up meanings to, thus loosing the flow of what I was reading.
Otherwise, it has been helpful. Haven’t read it completely through yet. Seems that I need to take a little bit of it at a time and try to assimilate what has been said, to my aging life.

This is an inspiring treatise on how to maximize the later years of one’s life whether on the emotional, physical or intellectualy level. Sherwin Nuland is a gifted writer and is very loving and insightful. His battle against his own demons and his passionate survival makes this a remarkably insightful work.
