This book is not written like a typical textbook. It is pretty easy to understand, and is not as dry as other books on research methods. As an MFT student I did not think that this book was a must-have, but it did help me with my thesis, and it helped me to better understand the methods sections of journal articles.

Just what I was looking for. However, it is important to know that the book it is unbalanced in the sense that it focuses almost exclusively in qualitative methods, and the few chapters devoted to quantitative research deal only with advanced statistical techniques.

I recommend the book to those interested in learning more about how to apply qualitative methologies in family therapy.

  3. This book is required for a course I’m taking, so I HAD to buy it. But–it’s very logically and concisely written, but also easy for the layperson (I am not a researcher). I’d recommend it as a how-to or resource book for any level of research study.
